A report from YCS central, by Ellen

Hi all, Ellen the wife here,

I told Jake I'd post to his blog occasionally to let his audience know how his training is going.

I've gotten to talk to our favourite sailor a few times this week, and generally everything seems to be going well. The only blemish so far has been that Jake was really sick for two days with some intestinal bug going around the building, but he's feeling much better now. He's decided to go back to eating meat since there aren't that many other ways for him to get enough protein to start building some more muscle mass, and he enjoyed a steak for the first time in two years. He's having a great time, despite how much grunt work they're making him do.

He'll be incommunicado over the next couple weeks, though, but I'll try to post again later.

Last Post (heh)

Well, this is my last post for a while (it was going to be yesterday, but I don't want to leave up the poem for days).

Who knows what happens now?

I guess this is the begining of my hero's journey.

But stay tuned! More "Humour in Uniform" to come, true believers...

And...

Happy Birthday to ELLEN (my wife) and MARIE (my mom). How lucky is it that I have just one date to remember for both of them?

I Remember

Last gasps of civilian life

Well, I'm almost done now. I'm just packing up the last few things
(though I know I'm forgetting stuff I'll want), and finishing
up some loose ends.

This will probably be my last post for a while, but for the life of me
I can't think of anything more to say.

This is the threshold between dreams and reality. In a very real way,
this is when my life begins...

Technical Difficulties (Part III)

GAH!

Well, I seem to be making this blog a little too tricky, and I can't seem to get it stable. Since I'm not really going to have the chance to fiddle with the HTML for the next little while, but I still do want to have the Blog up, I've changed it to the simplest format I could.

There is no Tagboard. But, you can still send me emails (preferably to my gmail account). I'll not write my email address here, in order to avoid spam, but everyone I want to hear from should already have it. I am enabling comments, so you can also write to me there, but I can't promise I'll notice those.

Now, back to packing!

Technical Difficulties (Part II)

Well, my Blog just melted down, but I seem to have it up again.

The only thing that isn't working are the Blogger buttons, but that seems to be their problem...

Also,

At the bottom of the post, you'll see a world map showing the countries to which I've been. I hope to add more soon :)

Technical Difficulties

I seem to be having some difficulty in making the "Donations" button work. Blogger won't seem to let me edit the bulk of the HTML for the index page...

Odd.

Anyway, I doubt anyone will notice...

Just a few days now before I leave.

New Look

Well, I updated the look of my blog. Somehow, this just looks a little more "navy." It's still based off of one of the Blogger templates (as HTML still mostly illudes me), but I like it. I also how the archives are displayed, though I can't understand why the only way to do it has the NEWEST entries at the top of the page (who reads a diary backwards?), but I had to do it so that people can see the tagboard, not that anyone actually SIGNS it! :(

Less than a week to go, now...

The Incredibles!

I just saw The Incredibles, and MAN it was good! Some of Pixar's best work, and a full two hours to boot!

In other news, I have 9 days before I leave, and WAY too much to do.

Too much to blog, at any rate.

Sleep Now.
